Software Engineering: Volume 1: The Development Process, 2nd Edition

If you can get past the bad editing in Chapter 1...
Required for any Software Engineering pursuing CSDPI agree with other reviewers on editing problems. However these books (vol I and II) offer a strong support to Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK) and are a required reading for those pursuing IEEE Certificate Software Development Professional (CSDP). I used it along with other materials in my preparation for CSDP exam and PASSED.
Bottom line: A good compilation of software engineering readings supporting SWEBOK worthy of some room in software development professional bookshelf.

Quick-And-Easy Crazy Quilt Patchwork: With 14 Projects (Dover Needlework Series)
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (June, 1992)
Average review score:

Projects & methods are outdatedThis book published in 1986 may have been an uptodate methodology at that time, but has since been outdated and in my estimation is not worth the money.
Rather disappointed.Black and white format. Stitch diagrams reasonably good, though not many different stitches included. Styles of projects included outdated. (May be coming back in to fashion though, as the featured quilt seems to have a "peace sign" as it's main theme.) This book does not really come close to the Victorian crazy quilt books that are currently on the market. For the price, it might not be a bad addition to a library on CQ, but I think I'd pass it up otherwise
A Good Book for Beginners at Crazy QuiltingThis book is a good beginning book for a person wanting to learn to do Crazy Quilting. She shows how to piece the blocks (sew the material down). She has good pictures, and you can see the stitching that has been done on the finished projects.
The projects include a tea cozy, quilt, toaster cover, purse, Christmas stocking, and (among others) a shopping bag.
I got this book as one of the first CQ books in my library, and it was a help to me, even though I had to buy others to expand my knowledge. This is a good book for basics. The pictures are all in black and white, and while it may LOOK outdated, with modern materials, these ideas and techniques are helpful

Crazy Quilt Patchwork: A Quick and Easy Approach With 19 Projects

Crazy Quilt Patchwork: A Quick and Easy Approach With 19 ProThis is not a good book. The projects are ugly, and nothing one would want to waste time on. I was very disappointed! Fortunately it was not an expensive book - yet, certainly not worth ordering.

Chapter 1 was very frustrating because of the blatant bad editing. If they were errors in content then they might be due to my misunderstanding, but these are blatant errors and are definitely the fault of bad proofreading/editing. Example: When someone enumerates 4 points as (1),(2),(2) and (4) it is not my imagination.
Chapter 1 is intended for a software engineering manager. Chapter 2 is the obvious part of engineering ethics, concluding with a reprint of the IEEE code of ethics. Chapter 3 defines the system engineering level, at length. Chapter 4 is the importance of requirements engineering. Chapter 5 is Software design, 6 is overviews of development strategies, 7 is coding and unit testing, Chapter 8 is testing and integration, 9 is on maintenance.
Most of the articles are reprints of previously published articles (I even recognize the badly reprinted werewolf pictures from "No Silver Bullet" in Chapter 2 that were previously printed in an IEEE magazine I used to have).
Production values are unacceptable! The digital, on demand printing method used results in inferior print quality. Some pages look like they were running a little low on ink, some seem to have a little too much ink, some graphics with thin lines have breaks in them due to rasterization. Some gray scale to hatching results in a cheap appearance. Did I make it clear enough that Chapter 1 has blatant editing errors that make me distrust the content?
Given the above problems it is also overpriced in my opinion.
This refers to 2nd edition.
OK, this was published by the IEEE. We're Engineers, I don't expect us to be best-selling writers; I do expect us to be able to hire a proofreader and a printer.
